It took me a while to be able to book korail passes via https://www.letskorail.com/ from USA. I hope this saves time for other folks, as I didn't find these issues documented anywhere -
- Problem 1 - https://www.letskorail.com/ is unreachable. For some reason (that I didn't spend time digging into), it is not reachable through my internet provider - Cox. I had to use mobile internet (AT&T) to be able to open the website.
- Problem 2 - While making the payment for korail pass, I get 3D Secure (3DS) related errors. This happened with both letskorail.com as well as seoultravelpass.com. None of the US based credit card providers (at least citibank and chase) don't support 3DS. They are able to make some temporary changes if you call them and talk the fraud department. But it only worked once for me. I finally had to resort to getting help from someone in India with 3DS Secure card to make the purchase. By then I had wasted several hours talking to customer service folks of my credit card companies. The errors I got were -
- 303 : Your card is not enrolled in 3D Secure Authentication.
- 303 3D secure authentication failed.
- Alert!!! Issuer does not provide 3DS2.0!!
- 305, Authentication failed!
